In view of the current situation of Covid 19, our work has been limited to a bibliographical
study which includes several parts: the first part deals with the problem of pollution and
depollution, the second part includes the adsorption pheomenon, hydroxyapatite and activated
carbons, the third part describes the generalities of seaweed, and the fourth part is based on
the identification of the red algae identified as Corallina elongata. An experimental
bibliographical synthesis allowed us to value the chosen red algae due to its structure which is
rich in protein and CaCo3 and to evaluate the adsorption capacity according to the different
scientific journals and publications which estimate that physically and chemically modified
marine algae in comparison with commercial activated carbon have more efficient adsorption
capacities. The results obtained from the activation methods applied to these algae show a
good adsorption capacity. The same is true for the hydrxyapatite elaborated from marine
algae, which presents better capacities than the different activated carbons.
The adsorption capacity of these activated algae for different dyes and heavy metals in
comparison with other adsorbents taken from the literature proves that this new adsorbent can
be used successfully in the depollution and decoloration of textile industry waste water. |
