The work presented in this study aims at the valuation of a medicinal plant of the Asteraceae family, namely Chamaemelum nobile L., by characterizing its antioxidant and antimicrobial activities in the form of aqueous polyphenolic extract compared to organic extracts. Because of the Covid-19 pandemic, the experiments were stopped and this thesis describes the results of the common literature on the subject. The aqueous extract of Chamaemelum nobile L. (Hajjaj, 2017) has very good antioxidant power, all the extracts exhibited lower antioxidant activities than that of the reference (BHT) which is inhibited with 98.73 ± 1.3%. The polyphenolic extracts obtained by maceration showed an extraction yield of 8.5%, 0.84% and 10%, of the methanolic, chloroform and aqueous extracts of Chamaemelum nobile L., respectively. (Kitoune et Outamazirt, 2018). The antimicrobial activity of the three polyphenolic extracts was determined on six microbial strains according to the disk diffusion method (Djoubani et al., 2017). The results showed varying zones of inhibition from 7 to 15 mm. The three polyphenolic extracts have moderate inhibitory activity and they reacted positively to at least one of the bacterial strains tested, exception was noted with the fungi flora. |
