Nettle is a common plant. Everybody knows it for its stinging. In fact, it is a medicinal plant used since ancient times for its many therapeutic properties.
In order to know the biological activities of medicinal plants traditionally used by the population, our work has focused on the study of raw extracts of leaves and roots of Urtica dioica L (Urticaceae) by the method of infusion and methanolic maceration.
Phytochemical screening has revealed a wealth of bioactive substances. The characterization of alkaloids and flavonoids on TLC plates revealed a large number of spots, indicating a significant richness of compounds of these secondary metabolists
Radical scavenging (DPPH) has shown that the methanolic extract of Urtica dioica has a high antioxidant activity (IC50 = 1.87 mg/ml). |
