dc.description.abstract The aim of the present research is to explore the construction of black female identity in Toni Morrison’ neo-Slave narrative Beloved (1987). Morrison’s novel highlights the effects of slavery upon the female characters. She also points out how slavery contributed in making them believe that their identity vanished and that they have to construct a new one. Therefore, the chief aim of this study is to develop a strong understanding of the different aspects that influence the female character’s identity realization. The study employs Black Feminist theory to examine the black female harsh experiences in a society dominated by white supremacy. This research work attempts to focus on the development and formation of black female identity in Toni Morrison’s novel and in the era of neo-slave narratives. en_US
