dc.description.abstract The learner-centred way of teaching imposes teachers to support the learner to presume the meaning from the context instead of using the translation from one language to another because it hinders learning. However, in the case of using audio-visual translation, it appears that it has exceptional efficacy on the development of EFL learners proficiency level, especially when using the English subtitles, this latter gives the learner an opportunity to correlate between what is written (English subtitles) and what is said (native speech) as a way to develop the language skills, spelling competency and pronunciation. To this end, the present research aims at investigating to what extent the introduction of audio-visual translation on EFL learners help to improve their speaking and writing skills, including the difficulties that they face while learning. In order to fulfil this study, a mixed methodology approach has been picked as a way to collect both quantitative and qualitative data from the chosen sample. The two intended data collection instruments that were applied include the students’ questionnaire and teachers’ interviews. The obtained results elucidate the effectiveness of audio-visual translation on EFL learners in terms of developing their skills and improving their language proficiency level. Furthermore, the study tried to suggest a variety of recommendations on how to make audio-visual translation more productive and better utilized to enhance the teaching and learning process. en_US
