dc.description.abstract The objective of this study is to propose alternative solutions based on the use of natural "bio-insecticide" products, in order to fight against anthracnose of tomatoes caused by Colletotrichum gloeosporioides, considered to be redoubled for this crop in Algeria. To meet this aim, we evaluated; the antifungal activity of the essential oil of the aromatic plant Salvia officinalis, "in vitro" on the growth of this pathogen and the antifungal activity of the aqueous extract of the same aromatic plant on the "in vivo" development of anthracnose on detached tomato leaves. The results obtained show that the essential oil of Salvia officinalis remarkably inhibits mycelia growth "in vitro". While, the extract was successful in decreasing, the incidence of anthracnose on the inoculated leaves. This study must be continued and deepened in order to verify this antifungal effect “in vitro” and subsequently on a large scale, in the open field. en_US
