The scarcity of water in Algeria has been increasing for years because of the high demand and the water deficit due to climatic hazards, so the reuse of treated wastewater for agricultural irrigation appears as a necessary alternative. This work was carried out with the aim of establishing a diagnosis of the physicochemical and bacteriological state of the treated wastewater of the STEP of Bouguirat in Mostaganem (Algeria), to deduce the performance of this station and to study whether the quality of this water and its compliance with local and international standards of irrigation or not . The comparison between the values of the different physico-chemical parameters of the treated wastewater of the Bouguirat wastewater treatment plant (pH, with 7.17 for the treated water against 6.19 for the WHO norms) the irrigation norms fixed by the WHO and the national newspaper show that all the values are superior. And Cadmium with 0.176 mg/l against 0.05 mg/l for the standards of official journal.
The second part of our experiment consists in determining the effect on the physico-chemical and microbiological qualities of irrigation with treated wastewater (TME) of the STEP of Bouguirat on the cultures of orange Citrus sinensis L. of "Thomson" varieties to define the good quality of water for agricultural purposes. Indeed, the juices of oranges treated by wastewater shows more polyphenols compared to oranges of well water (81.2 mg EAG/100ml vs 275.64 mg EAG/100ml ) respectively |
