dc.description.abstract |
The present study focuses on a descriptive and analytical ethnobotanical approach, in the region of Mostaganem (town douars and villages) and which aims at the phyto-therapeutic analysis with herbalists, the local population and traditional healers.
Sociodemographic and vegetation-related information was collected through a questionnaire established beforehand on ethnobotanical sheets the survey involved 20 herbalists, 70 people from the local population and 02 traditional therapists
In the light of the results we noticed that the age group of young people is interested in the activity of herbalism, all herbalists have a level of study, and 90% of herbalists do not practice other activities.
The 70% of the population questioned resort to traditional medicine. The women are mainly interested in phytotherapy.
This study allowed us to list 35 plant species with therapeutic virtues among the local population, belonging to 18 botanical families, the most represented of which are those of the lamiaceae, the Apiaceae, and the fabaceae.
It appears that people know about medicinal plants, their benefits and their uses to treat diabetes including 21 species listed among traditional healers |
