As part of the search for new antioxidants through active natural sources that can be used in herbal medicine, the species Thymelaea hirsuta is involved in the treatment of female infertility. The interest of this work concerns the phytochemical study of this species and the quantification of certain active compounds as well as the evaluation of their antioxidant potential. The phytochemical screening carried out on the seeds of Thymelaea hirsuta allowed us to highlight the presence of phenolic compounds, flavonoids and tannins. The quantitative study revealed that the crude methanolic extract contains a content of (5.12 ± 0.008 mg/EAG), slightly higher than the aqueous one which only marks (2.04 ± 0.007 mg/EAG); in parallel, there are considerable contents of total flavonoids (109.69± 0.003 mg/g.) recorded in the methanolic extract than in the aqueous one. Similarly, the antiradical potential of the seeds of our plant has a very high antioxidant power ranging from (58.87± 0.007) in the decocted extract to (67.18± 0.01) in the macerated extract, with an IC50 value of around of 0.007 ± 0.01mg/ml for the DPPH free radical scavenging test. |
