dc.description.abstract The use of pesticides in agriculture to protect crops can have undesirable consequences for humans and the environment. In this preliminary research we aimed to develop a suitable and selective medium for autochthonous bacteria with the potential to degrade pesticides used in the treatment of potato crops. Three bacteria were screened, isolated and purified. Respiratory, biochemical and enzymatic tests were carried out to evaluate the characteristics of the isolates. The study of pesticide biodegradation on liquid MSM medium was carried out by measuring the optical density of the three isolates tested over five days in two different concentrations for five different pesticides used in potato treatment. The results show that pesticide degradation is accompanied by microbial growth of the three isolates, revealed by the increase in absorbance of the liquid medium. en_US
