The presence of pesticides in the environment raises serious concerns due to their detrimental effects on human health and ecosystems. Citrus crops are frequently subjected to pesticide use. This study explores the possibility of demonstrating pesticide degradation by isolating beneficial microorganisms from a soil sample taken from these citrus crops.
The soil sample was collected from a citrus field located in the Mesra region. Analysis of the sample detected the presence of specific pesticides used in citrus cultivation while identifying the microorganisms present. Selective culture methods were employed to isolate microorganisms capable of degrading the targeted pesticides used in these crops.
The isolated microorganisms were then subjected to pesticide degradation tests in the laboratory. The decrease in pesticide concentration over time was measured to evaluate the degradation efficiency of the isolated microorganisms. Controls were used to compare pesticide degradation in the presence and absence of these beneficial microorganisms.
The results demonstrate that microorganisms isolated from the agricultural soil sample of citrus crops have the ability to effectively degrade the targeted pesticides used in these crops, confirming their beneficial potential supported by microbiological analyses.
This study thus demonstrates that the use of beneficial microorganisms constitutes a promising approach to assess the degradation of pesticides specific to citrus cultivation, offering an ecologically sustainable alternative to reduce pollution from these phytosanitary products. These results encourage future research aiming to further exploit these beneficial microorganisms to establish more effective management of agricultural pollution in citrus crops. |
