dc.description.abstract The intensive use of pesticides (imidacloprid) and heavy metals (cadmium) poses an increasing threat to both human health and the environment. These toxic xenobiotics, widely present in ecosystems, may interact and produce combined effects that remain poorly characterized. While the individual toxicity of these substances has been extensively studied, research on their combined toxicity is still limited, even though co-exposure is common in natural environments. In this context, our study aims to evaluate the toxic effects of combined exposure to cadmium and imidacloprid, by investigating their mechanisms of action using an in vivo model. Ready-to-use rat samples were used to form different experimental groups treated either individually or in combination with both substances. Biochemical analyses showed elevated oxidative stress biomarkers, indicating the induction of a redox imbalance. These effects were observed at relatively low doses, highlighting the underestimated toxicity of co-exposure to these compounds. These findings emphasize the importance of assessing the interactions between pesticides and heavy metals to better understand their impact on health and the environment. en_US
