dc.description.abstract This work is part of the study of medicinal plants, much of which remains untouched and requires in-depth studies. The aim of this work is a classical screening which has been carried out to determine the large groups of chemical compounds present in the roots of Centaurea nigra and in the seeds of Lepidium sativum. The phytochemical screening of C. nigra roots and L. sativum seeds based on specific tests confirmed the presence of substances with high therapeutic values, in particular polyphenols, alkaloids, terpenoids ... etc. The qualitative dosage of secondary metabolites shows that the roots of Centaurea nigra and the seeds of Lepidium sativum rich in sterols, tritenppene, free genes, leucoanthocyanins, catechic tannins, saponosides, proanthocyanidols, quinones, ose and holosides, proteins and mucilages. For the detection of alkaloids, anthocyanins and O-heterosides, the reactions were positive only with Lepidium sativum seeds. On the other hand, carotenoids were present only in the roots of Centaurea nigra. The richness of the roots of Centaurea nigra and the seeds of Lepidium sativum in secondary metabolites constitute the scientific basis for the traditional therapeutic use of the studied plants. en_US
