The aim of our work is to carry out a descriptive study on diabetes, its risk factors
and some complications, and to evaluate its biological and pathophysiological parameters.
As part of our epidemiological investigation and in a first phase, 68 children among them
were 34 diabetic children aged 0 to 18 years were recruited. They were classified into groups
according to age, sex, type of breastfeeding, diet and physical activity, and how to control
blood glucose. And the degree of certain complication.
In a second phase of our study, we performed a biological check-up with the following
blood parameters: blood glucose, glycated hemoglobin, Total cholesterol, triglyceride,
creatinine and urea, and liver function tests (TGO and TGP).
According to our results, the characteristics studied that are significantly related to
diabetes are age especially in the child stage, and consanguinity (38.22%), poorly balanced
diet and lack of breastfeeding (14.71% ) Is followed by some complication such as
hypertension (29.41%) and cardiovascular disease (14%). However, overweight is not
significantly related to type 1 diabetes as risk factors, and even for other parameters such as
cholesterol Almost identical with a slight increase in triglycerides, while creatinine values
were stable with a noticeable increase in (26.47%). While the liver function study evaluated
by the TGO and TGP assay did not record Disturbance for these parameters; also have the
majority of patients with higher blood glucose levels, and an HbA1c greater than 6% in our
patients. Finally, this study, which is a descriptive study, could be a valuable resource to
evaluate the multidisciplinary approach and the impact of different strategies of disease
prevention. |
