Paracetamol is suspected of being hepatotoxic at therapeutic dose.
The goal of this study is to track this long-term toxicity
A total of 37 mice of swiss strain and of different sex was taken for all the experiments.
Initially, the study focuses on the challenge of paracetamol toxicity at a dose of 100 mg / kg increased
to 200 mg / kg for 14 weeks and curcumin protective treatment (2 g / kg) against oxidative stress
caused by paracetamol.
The results of the biochemical parameters revealed a significant increase in the transaminase levels
ALAT (93.28 IU), ASAT (189.07 IU) and ẟGT (224, 20 IU) and a decrease in the blood glucose level
(0.30 g / l). ) and serum albumin (30.32 g / l) in treated patients approached those in the treated control
group.
Liver sections revealed macroscopically significant lesions (hepatic necrosis) bloating and hydropic
lesions, vacuolization and steatosis in intoxicated patients. On the other hand, these lesions are less
important in the treated addicts. It seems that curcumin is a powerful antioxidant and antiinflammatory
treatment which slows down the reaction cascade of degeneration. |
