dc.description.abstract This dissertation has explored the representation of gender conflict within the theatre of Harold Pinter. What is sought is a literary analysis of the Absurd representation of male and female as well as the conflict that appears between them in two magnificent plays. It outlines the most influential philosophers, namely the French Simon de Beauvoir and the American Judith Butler. As these two figures provide us with a better understanding of the notion of Gender, Masculinity and Femininity, that facilitate the analytical phase of Pinter’s works. This study points out the dramatic change of woman position in the second half of the twentieth century British society. This study aims at exploring the way Pinter’s characters are struggling to gain power and dominance, as well as The main objective of this paper is to show the battle that Pinter established between the two genders parties on his stage. en_US
