Abstract

Abstract This study aimed to examine the role of medical monitoring in promoting the mental health of under-15 (U15) football players from the coaches' perspective. Medical monitoring is considered an essential factor in ensuring players' physical safety and psychological well-being during this critical stage of growth and development. The study adopted the descriptive research method. A questionnaire was used to collect data from a sample of 35 coaches representing several football clubs in the provinces of Mostaganem and Tebessa. The research focused on two main dimensions: the availability of medical or paramedical monitoring in sports clubs and its contribution to the mental health of young players. The results indicated that medical monitoring was not consistently available in all clubs. However, coaches agreed that regular medical monitoring positively contributes to players' mental health by increasing their sense of safety, confidence, and psychological reassurance while reducing anxiety and fear related to sports injuries. The findings also showed that inadequate medical follow-up may negatively affect players' emotional stability and adaptation to training and competition. The study concluded that medical monitoring is a fundamental component of youth football development. Its role extends beyond injury prevention and treatment to supporting mental health and emotional balance. Therefore, the study recommends providing qualified medical or paramedical staff in sports clubs, conducting regular medical examinations, and giving greater attention to the psychological well-being of young athletes alongside their physical preparation.
