Our study aimed to determine the blood count values in pregnant women before and after childbirth, and to compare them with the reference values, looking for possible anemia. We did an internship for a period of 15 days (from April 18 to 29, 2021) at the maternity hospital of Lalla Kheira (city of Mostaganem). Our work focused on studying the files of women who had been admitted to give birth in this maternity hospital and who had undergone blood tests (at the laboratory level). The results showed lower than normal Hb levels in all women, both before childbirth (11g / dl) and after childbirth (9.77 g / dl), suggesting that anemia was probably pre-existing to the pregnancy. The levels of white blood cells in both groups of women (12.83 and 14.3 * 10⁹ / l respectively before and after childbirth) were above the norms, because of the infections which frequently affect pregnant women and women in pregnancy. post partum. The values of the number of red blood cells in pregnant women (4.34 * 10¹² / l) were normal, while after childbirth these values (3.9 * 10¹² / l) were below the lower threshold of the norms . This is explained by the hemorrhages observed during and after childbirth. Regarding blood platelets, their levels are normal in both groups of women.en_US
