The overuse of antibiotics is the major factor contributing to the appearance of different types of antibiotic-resistant bacteria. The emergence and increasing diffusion of these bacteria call into question the efficiency of these treatments in both humans and animals. Consequently, in this study we propose other therapeutic alternatives. Extraction of 1000g of Eucalyptus globulus essential oil by the hydrodistillation method yielded 0.46%. The in vitro antimicrobial activity of essential oils is determined by an aromatogram using the agar diffusion method. Satisfactory results were obtained with regard to the clinical pathogens tested, the diameters of the inhibition zones were in the order of 12 and 19.5 mm respectively for E. coli and Staphylococcus aureus. The inhibitory effect of these essential oils is proportional to the concentrations tested, gram negative bacteria Appear to be more sensitive than Gram-positive bacteria. T h us, this study makes it possible to conclude that Eucalyptus globulus oil has an important antibacterial activity.en_US
