Abstract

The purpose of this study, achieved at the workshop of « ITA » in Mazagran (Mostaganem), is to test the effect of the short cut of the melon culture behaviour in coastal areas. The experimental dispositive is the Fisher blocks. The main parameters taken in considerations during the follow-up of the crop are:  Flowering  precocity  the calibre  The weight  The yield The various measurements and observation with their statistics and analysis showed that: - The synergistic effect of the short cut on yields provides a gain in the vicinity of 112% compared to the witness. - The calibre, which is an essential factor of quality, we notice that the cut melons have a yield of 76.26% for large fruits and 23.74% for small ones. Against respectively 55.95% and 44.00% for the uncut melon. - Regarding the precocity, we find that cut gives a better performance.
