Village poultry farming plays an important role in the lives of rural families as it significantly contributes to food security in the form of animal proteins. The meat and eggs of local chicken, for example, are highly appreciated by the Algerian consumer. However, the quality of these products depends on the breed, the regions and the breeding conditions. Our study proposes an evaluation of the quality of the eggs of four local poultry species: chicken, guinea fowl, turkey and cane terms of weight, conformation and composition. A total of 100 eggs (30 chicken eggs, 30 guinea fowl eggs, 20 turkey eggs and 20 roe eggs) were used in the present work. The results show that the quality of the eggs varies between the four genotypes studied not only for the whole weight and the conformation, but practically for all the traits studied (P <0.001). Local poultry species are of particular interest not only in diversifying agricultural production and improving productivity, but also in developing sustainable agriculture in the context of current and future climate change.*en_US
