Our study aims to test the cytotoxicity of Ricinus communis L on human erythrocytes as well as some phytochemical parameters have been evaluated. The aqueous extraction of the aerial parts by infusion and decoction has been reserved for the phytochemical screening of the plant. The seed oil was extracted by steam distillation (soxhley) in the presence of a solvent which is hexane. The results of phytochemical tests revealed the presence of secondary metabolites including tannins and saponins for both types of extracts. The castor seed hemolysis test was applied to the red blood cells for a period of 90 minutes and the results show that vegetable oil has a higher hemolytic effect for the crude extracts with a hemolysis percentage of 66.88% after 45 mins and 62.3% after 30 mins. For the 50% dilutions the values are around 47.49 and 53.32 after 15 min and 45 min of incubation respectively. The toxicity of castor on red blood cells increases with the concentrations of the extracts and the incubation timeen_US
