The study was performed at the saint. the hospital laboratory of Mostaganem and laboratory biochemistry and microbiology at the University of Mostaganem. The main objective of this investigation is to identify the main bacteria responsible for urinary tract infections in women aged over 50 years and compare the antimicrobial effects of essential oils of Thymus vulgaris compared to some antibiotics Laboratory diagnosis generally based on the urine cultures showed abnormal presence of white blood cells in urine. It is also characterized by bacteriuria leucocyturia and indirect signs of infection. Our work shows that older women more over 50 years are more urinary infections than other women's groups; with a risk of infection of 66%. Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus are the most frequently isolated bacteria in patients. Essential oils of Thymus vulgaris have submitted a non-inhibitory effect on Escherichia coli at low concentrations (25 and 50%), while it has an antimicrobial effect on Staphylococcus aureusen_US
