Etude épidémiologique des sujets atteints de SARS-CoV-2 à Mostaganem

Abstract

Once the World Health Organization announced the spread of COVID-19, the Ministry of Health, Population and Hospital Reform (MSPRH) in Algeria announced on January 23, 2020 the adoption of a surveillance and monitoring system. The first case of COVID-19 was recorded on February 25, 2020. Since then, epidemiological data has filled the websites and newspapers of all countries of the world. In this work, we conducted a retrospective study based on data provided by the Public Health Authority of Che Guevara Hospital in Mostaganem between January 2021 to December 2021. The survey aims to study the development of COVID-19 in Mostaganem in the Epidemiology Department of this hospital. Our results indicated that in 2021 there were a total of 3177 cases reviewed at Che Guevara Hospital, including 1935 cases confirmed by RT-PCR with a mortality rate of 23%. Then we showed a significant difference in the incidence of Covid-19 between age groups. In fact, patients between the ages of 26 and 45 are more likely to contract coronavirus than other people who are younger or older. In addition, most deaths occur in patients over 65 years of age. Moreover, we showed that the third wave was the strongest in terms of the number of infections and deaths from SARS-Cov-2 virus in Mostaganem. During the period from February 2022 to April 2022, we recorded a very large number of vaccinations against Covid-19. Apparently, the most injectable vaccine was the Chinese Sinovac vaccine.
