Lead (Pb) is one of the most toxic metals used by humans and has no known biological benefits. Its presence in high doses causes several disturbances in the plant. Moringa oleifera Lam. is a plant species that grows in Asia and Africa, it has significant potential for water purification and resistance to salt stress. This work consists in studying the effect of lead on the biochemical and anatomical parameters of Moringa oleifera Lam. after 60 days of culture in an uncontrolled glass greenhouse, five doses of lead in the form of lead nitrate (Pb(NO3)2) (0 , 3 , 5 , 7 and 10 mM) were applied during one month. Biochemical analysis showed a decrease in the content of leaf chlorophyll pigments a, b and total with a significant accumulation of soluble sugars, proline with increasing lead concentration at the aerial and root parts of Moringa oleifera Lam. Anatomical analysis of roots and stems of Moringa oleifera Lam. showed that lead did not induce any significant abnormality at the level of bark and root cylinder or epidermis, cortical parenchyma and conductive tissues of stem compared to the control.en_US
