Algeria, like the countries of North Africa, is facing a rainfall deficit that has lasted since the last years. Like Algeria, the western part of the country is experiencing a persistent drought. This situation negatively affects the water resource on which the demand constantly grows. The 1990-2010 decade was characterized by a large rainfall surplus and especially in the south-north region of the study area (Saida, Sidi Boubekeur), and also characterized by a deficit over the western wilaya (Youb). Who was severely affected by this decrease. The rainfall deficit is closely related to the decrease in winter rainfall and to a lesser degree than in the spring. This relationship is evidenced by the relationship between the annual rainfall index and the drought index.en_US
