Chronic renal failure (CKD) is a major public health problem. Its management is heavy and constraining economically and socially. It has been declared a major public health priority in Algeria. This is the result of a steady growth in its incidence and prevalence This work is carried out with two main objectives, first to study the factors predisposing or influencing the development of chronic renal failure and its complications, then secondly, to assess the level of oxidative stress in this population. This work took place from 03/23/2022 to 04/30/2022 at the level of the Public Hospital Establishment of Ain-Tadles and at the Biochemistry laboratory of the University of Mostaganem. A total of 50 patients of both sexes (sex ratio F/M, 27/23) aged between 20 and 80 years and suffering from chronic renal failure in the hemodialysis stage are selected. The study of the sociodemographic and clinical parameters of the IRC population was carried out by means of a questionnaire containing 26 items. A dosage of urea, creatinine and blood sugar was performed. The present study shows that: • The most age group affected by CRF is between 35 and 50 with a female predominance. • 38% of patients are overweight compared to only 4% who are underweight • More than 70% of IRC cases are married compared to only 24% who are single. • 14% of CRFs have a family history. • 76% of patients with CKD do not exercise at all. • In the population studied, arterial hypertension is the main comorbidity (68%) followed by diabetes (20%) and heart disease (12%). • The biochemical profile shows a significant increase in plasma concentrations of urea, creatinine and blood sugar (p<0.001). • A statistically insignificant increase in the concentration of TBARS is observed in CKD subjects.en_US
