dc.description.abstractWater is an essential material for life and human activity. The discharge of wastewater loaded with polluting substances into the environment without any prior treatment is a reason for growing concern given the adverse effects it can cause on human health, flora and fauna, therefore the reuse of wastewater treated for agricultural irrigation appears as a necessary alternative. The objective of our work is to assess the physico-chemical and microbiological quality of purified wastewater from the Bouguirat wastewater treatment plant, and to study the effect of irrigation by these waters on the physico-chemical and microbiological quality. orange and pomegranate fruits. The results of the physicochemical parameters of the purified wastewater (pH= 7.07; T° =22.3°C ; MES= 16mg/l; BOD5=18mg/l and COD=72mg/l) show that the latter can be used for irrigation and cannot presents no risk according to the Algerian standards of discharges, on the other hand the results of the microbiological parameters show that these waters are characterized by faecal contamination. Indeed, treated wastewater has no noticeable effect on the physico-chemical characteristics where the rate of flavonoids, vitamin C lipids and proteins decreases in orange juice and pomegranate juice irrigated by EUTs, and increase in plants watered with well water. In what increases the content of polyphenols, sugar and carotenoids in plants irrigated with EUT due to degree of fruit ripening and environmental conditions. Regarding the results of the microbiological analyzes comply with the standards and show no contamination.en_US
