dc.description.abstractMolecular barcoding and genetic and cytogenetic studies are very important and they play a crucial role in the development of sea cucumber culture. Cytogenetics provide insight into the genetic material of sea cucumber populations, thus allowing chromosomal maps to be established and any variations within sea cucumber species karyotypes to be inspected. The present study allowed us to carry out experiments to study the number of chromosomes of some species of sea cucumbers of the genus Holothuria from the coast of Mostaganem. Likewise, it gave us the opportunity to consult the previous work that has been done on the chromosomes of other species of sea cucumbers.en_US
