Phytotherapy refers to medicine based on plant extracts and natural active ingredients. According to the WHO, herbal medicine is considered a traditional medicine and is still massively used in some countries, including developing countries. It is most often a non-conventional medicine due to the absence of clinical studies. In ALGERIA, plants occupy an important place in traditional medicine, which itself is widely used in various fields of health. We conducted a restrospective study via an online quiz for the North Algerian population, with the aim of identifying the medicinal plants used to fight against COVID-19 and to characterize their effects on the infection by this new virus. The results of our survey showed that a large part of the local population used herbal medicine to protect themselves from this new epidemic. Participants used more than 10 species of plants to cope with the virus. Combining herbal medicine with conventional medicine may be an alternative approach to treating COVID-19 in the future.en_US
