Abstract

The purpose of the current study is to suggest alternative solutions based on the use of natural products “Bio insecticides”, to control tomato leaf miner, Tuta absoluta Meyrick, which is considered as a serious threat of tomato production in Algeria. To meet this objective, we have study the effectiveness of a bio-insecticide of essential oil extracted by leaves of Chrysanthemum coronarium L. against the larvae of Tuta absoluta Meyrick known as the tomato leaf miner. The experiment revealed that the essential oil of the plant can constitute an interesting means of biocontrol in a short time, in average in 5 days. Indeed, the plant studied required an LD50 that exceeds 3.44% to kill 50% treated insects.
