Abstract

This work aims to determine the correlation between vitamin D deficiency and the severity of depressive disorders through the assessment of vitamin D deficiency, the Beck scale score and anthropometric measurements in 29 patients with depressive disorders (18 women, 11 men). The vitamin D assay is carried out using the ELIZA technique and Beck'sscale scores werealsoassessed, the Beck Scale score, which is determined by a questionnaire specifically adapted to assess the degree of depression of the patients, was also evaluated. The body mass index represents the anthropometric parameter chosen for the study. In 29 patients with depressive disorders, we found a prevalence of hypovitaminosis D of 87% and a predominance of women (65%) with an average age of 46 years, at the same time overweight remains almost constant in depressed patients, with an average BMI reaching 27.72. At the end, a comparison of the different parameters demonstrates the relationship between vitamin D deficiency and the severity of the depressive state. The results show a predominance of vitamin D deficiency and overweight in subjects with depressive disorders. Vitamin D was negatively correlated with the Beck Scale score and between vitamin D and BMI, with a correlation between vitamin D and BMI.
