Abstract

Barriers to the Use of Artificial Intelligence in Enhancing Swimmers’ Biomechanical Skills: Coaches’ Perspectives
Abstract
This study aimed to identify the barriers that hinder the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in enhancing swimmers’ biomechanical skills from the perspective of swimming coaches. The research focused on three categories of barriers: applied and practical barriers, technical and infrastructural barriers, and cognitive and skill-related barriers.
The study was conducted at the Olympic Swimming Pool in Relizane and involved a random sample of 30 male and female swimming coaches. A descriptive analytical approach was adopted. Data were collected through an electronic questionnaire consisting of three main dimensions:
1. Applied and practical barriers.
2. Technical and infrastructural barriers.
3. Cognitive and skill-related barriers.
The collected data were analyzed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS), version 25.
Findings
The study revealed the following results:
1. There are statistically significant applied and practical barriers that hinder the use of AI in improving swimmers’ biomechanical skills.
2. There are statistically significant technical and infrastructural barriers that limit the integration of AI into biomechanical skills training.
3. There are statistically significant cognitive and skill-related barriers that affect coaches’ ability to effectively adopt and utilize AI technologies.
Recommendations
Based on the findings, the study recommends:
• Integrating AI programs and applications into educational and training stages at an early level.
• Raising coaches’ professional and cultural awareness regarding the importance of AI through effective planning and organizational support.
• Providing the necessary financial resources, equipment, software, and specialized training programs to facilitate AI implementation.
• Expanding the use of AI-based systems and applications to enhance sports performance and improve training quality.
