Colorectal cancer is the third cancer in the world in both sexes combined. 400,000 deaths from colorectal cancer are recorded each year. This type of cancer is increasingly a major public health problem in Algeria. Our work is based on a retrospective study with the aim of determining cases of colorectal cancer across western Algeria. The epidemiological study was carried out over a period from 2013 to 2019. The sample includes 501 colon cancer patients (272 men or 54% and 229 women or 46%). The results obtained revealed a slight male predominance with a sex ratio of 1.4 and a high frequency of malignant involvement of the left colon (61.8%) compared to the right colon (38.2%) respectively. According to Dukes' classification, 58% of patients have tumors in stages C and D. In conclusion, the left colon type dominates in both sexes in relation to the location of the right colon and that in the different wilayas (Oran, Sidi Bel Abbes, Mascara, Ain Temouchent, Relizane). The results obtained from this study only tell us about the epidemiological situation of colon cancer across western Algeria. To this end, it would be very interesting to carry out a nutritional survey in order to determine the important role of diet in the etiology of this type of cancer.en_US
