This research aims to determine whether consanguinity is associated with the onset of diseases such as diabetes and high blood pressure, as well as to assess its potential impact on biochemical parameters in the population of the wilaya of Mostaganem. To do this, a comparative study was conducted on a sample of 72 individuals, including both consanguineous and non-consanguineous individuals. The analyses revealed that the rate of consanguinity in this region is 40.27%. The study showed that there is no significant relationship between consanguinity and the onset of chronic diseases such as diabetes and high blood pressure. However, it was observed that consanguinity may have a noticeable impact on certain biochemical parameters.Consanguineous individuals have increased values of certain biochemical markers, including blood cell count (BCC), blood sugar, urea, and cholesterol. Although consanguinity does not seem to directly influence the onset of diseases like diabetes and hypertension, it is associated with biochemical alterations that could have implications for long-term health. These results suggest the importance of monitoring biochemical parameters in consanguineous populations to better understand and manage potential health risks.en_US
