The use of botanical insecticides as alternatives to chemical insecticides is a promising way of controlling pests with very little risk to human health and the environment. In order to control the black bean aphid (Aphis fabae), a great deal of work is being carried out to find alternative solutions based on the use of natural products extracted from medicinal plants. The aim of the present study was to evaluate in vitro the insecticidal effect of Pistacia lentiscus powder against Aphis fabae (black bean aphid). Laboratory tests were conducted to determine the contact and repellent insecticidal effect of the powder as a function of time (day) and at different concentrations (0.25g, 0.5g, 1g 1.5g and 2g). Results showed that Pistacia lentiscus powder has remarkable insecticidal potential against Aphis fabae. It induces 100% mortality after three days of treatment at all doses tested. The LD50 of the contact test was equal to 6 g after two hours of treatment. The repellency rate was low, with an average not exceeding 40% after a two-hour treatment period for all doses tested.en_US
