Spirulina, also known as Arthrospira platensis, is a filamentous cyanobacteria or blue-green algae that grows readily in alkaline lakes and brackish waters throughout the world. For our project, we cultivated spirulina in a flat photobioreactor (flat PBR) to treat wastewater The first step is to produce biomass of A. platensis in a flat photobioreactor And the second stage began when we reached the required amount of biomass. In this part, we valorized spirulina biomass in wastewater treatment. During the last stage, physico-chemical analyzes of the water. The study on the treatment of wastewater with spirulina shows its effectiveness in reducing pollutants such as chemical demand for oxygen, nitrates and sulfates. Spirulina reduced COD from 563 mg/L to 38.4 mg/L, an 80% reduction, indicating its ability to remove organic matter in wastewater. It also reduced nitrates from 4.63 mg/L to 0.309 mg/L, a 93% reduction and a 45% reduction in sulfates. However, spirulina also increased the concentration of chlorides from 53,175 mg/L to 149 mg/L, an increase of 64%, indicating its potential to improve water quality. Combining this approach with complementary techniques can optimize wastewater treatment in a comprehensive and sustainable manner.en_US
