It has become a legal means that ensures identity verification and establishes trust and security in the digital exchange of information and contracts. National and international legislations have sought to establish a legal framework regulating the use of electronic signatures and providing legal protection for them by defining the conditions of their validity and evidentiary value, in addition to regulating certification authorities, encryption methods, and information security mechanisms. On the other hand, the widespread use of electronic signatures has led to the emergence of several cybercrimes associated with them, such as electronic forgery, data breaches, digital identity theft, and the unlawful use of electronic signatures. This has required legislators to enact legal provisions criminalizing such acts and imposing appropriate penalties. The importance of the legal framework for the protection of electronic signatures lies in establishing trust in digital transactions, ensuring the integrity and security of electronic data, and protecting the rights of individuals and institutions from cybercrimes. Such protection also contributes to encouraging investment and electronic commerce, as well as supporting digital transformation in various sectors.
