Endless human aggression continues to weaken the coastline, particularly the populations of Atriplex halimus. In addition to soil erosion, there is the genetic erosion of some important species. The toxicity of certain ions due to salinity causes a decrease in water absorption due to the augmentationin osmotic pressure. A physiological approach was conducted to determine the tolerance of the species to the different types of stress. The results obtained showed that the light effect and the presence of the fruiting valves retard the germination to a value of 33.3%. The light-colored seeds have a fast germination which reaches 93.3 % on the third day compared to the brown seeds where the rate is 53.3%.A rate of less than 50 % for germination of seeds with fruiting valves. The germination of light-colored seeds is stimulated by darkness with a rate of 100 % on the third day, however, brown seeds have a lower rate. The fruiting valves extract delayed the germination of light-colored and brown seeds, with a germination rate of 50% to 60%respectively on the sixth and seventh days. The velocity coefficient of the light-colored seeds does not differ between the seeds germinated in the light or in the dark; we record a speed of 29.4 and 29.5 respectively at contrary we can say that the effect of the extract of the fruiting valves is well visible with a speed of 20.1. The highest average germination time in five days is that of seeds germinated by the fruiting valves extract. The highest coefficient of velocity of brown seeds is that of seeds germinated under the effect of light with 29.6 and the lowest is that of seeds germinated under the effect of the extract of the fruiting valves. The average germination time is 4.5 days under the effect of the extract of the fruiting valves. These results show that light-colored seeds withstand stress better than brown-colored seeds.en_US
