Abstract

This study evaluates the impact of incorporating 35% groundnut tubers into the diet of rabbits on thyroid hormone imbalances and the nutritional quality of their meat. The experiment involved 30 rabbits, with groups induced with hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism. The results indicate that groundnuts have an effect similar to levothyrox, a medication for hypothyroidism. They also regulated T3 and T4 levels in rabbits with hyperthyroidism, like carbimazole. Creatinine concentration increased with levothyroxine, but decreased with 35% groundnuts. Groundnut administration did not have a significant impact on urea concentration. The meat of rabbits fed with 35% groundnuts had low lipid content and high protein content. These findings suggest potential for groundnuts to manage thyroid imbalances in rabbits.
