Etude expérimentale de l’effet thérapeutique de l’huile essentielle du Thym contre les infections mammaires par Staphylococcus aureus

Abstract

Mastitis can be defined as inflammation of the mammary gland resulting in loss of function or milk production. The fight against mastitis passes on the one hand, by prevention and on the other hand by their treatment. Antibiotics are thus conventionally used to fight against breast diseases. Currently, reducing the use of antibiotics is a major issue. Thus, the in vitro comparative evaluation of the anti-bacterial activity on clinical and reference Staphyloccoccus aureus ATCC6538 was carried out by the agar disk diffusion method, using the essential oil of Thymus vulgaris (70). / 30) deposited on the agar surface by a sterile swab the comparison of effectiveness is made with respect to antibiotics. The essential oil of Thymus vulgaris has a proven effect in vitro on the isolated bacterium of mastitis and reference. The results showed that the thymont extracts had a good inhibitory activity at a concentration of 6 .mu.l spread by a four-fold experimental treatment (1.5 .mu.l x 4) on the S. aureus clinical reference strains ATCC6538 and S. aureus of Clinique, and the absence of inhibitory activity for the doses of 2 μl and 4 μl. These experimental results suggest that antibiotics can be substituted for thyroid essential oil to treat Staphylococcus aureus breast infections, provided that the principle of inhibitory activity based on the nature and dose of the active substance is respected present in the extracts.
