Abstract

in order to identify the problem of controlling sheep reproduction in Algeria, this study allowed us to evaluate the reproductive potential of one of our most important breeds; it is the "Rembi" breed sheep. The Rembi ewe has very strong reproductive characteristics and intermediate weight characteristics during the sexual season (Autumn) and in natural conditions with a slight decrease in fertility (66.7%), fertility (72%) and a very acceptable Prolificacy rate of (108%) that may be due to several factors, among them: -Poor breeding practices resulting from the shepherds' low level of technical skills. Key words: ewes, Rembi, fertility, fecundity and prolificacy. -Uncontrolled natural reproduction whether for ram / ewe load, selection, diet and age of reproduction or age at reform.
