Etude de l’activitè Anti-oxydante, Anti-Microbienne de la poudre de noyaux de dattes de la variété Deglet nour

Abstract

This evaluative research aims to valorize an important natural resource : date pits of the « Deglet Nour » variety , considered an abundant agricultural and biological by- product of high value . This study mainly focuses on the scientific evaluation of the biological properties of raw date pit powder , specifically its antioxidant and antimicrobial activities . To this end , the date pit powder was prepared by adopting a cold preparation protocol ( without roasting) in order to preserve the original structure of thermosensitive bioactive molecules and prevent their degradation . Subsequently , a maceration process using a hydro-ethanolic mixture ( 70% ethanol ) was applied to ensure optimal extraction of phenolic compounds , resulting in an effective extraction yield of 14,5% . Biological analyses revealed that the hydro-ethanolic extract showed a high and remarkable capacity to scavenge free radicals ( during the DPPH assay) , recording an estimated inhibitory concentration of 6,5 mg/mL . Furthermore , the extract proved a broad –spectrum inhibitory and lethal efficacy against Gram-positive and Gram-negative pathogenic bacterial strains ( such as Escherichia coli , Staphylococcus aureus , and Pseudomonas aeruginosa) .The extract also showed a strong inhibitory effect against fungi , particularly the yeast Candida albicans . In conclusion , these results confirm the exceptional richness of Deglet Nour variety pits in phenolic compounds ( such as flavonoids and condensed tannins) . This work demonstrates the effectiveness of these pits as a powerful natural protective agent , thus opening promising industrial and applied perspectives for the integration of this extract as a safe alternative in the food , cosmetic , and pharmaceutical fields .
