Oxidative stress is involved in the development of many diseases due to the excessive production of free radicals. Therefore, the search for natural sources of antioxidants has become an important field of research in health and plant resource valorization. The aim of this study was to evaluate the antioxidant activity of the methanolic extract of Brassica rapa L. leaves using the DPPH free radical scavenging assay. The extraction process yielded 15.23%. The antioxidant activity study revealed a free radical scavenging capacity with a maximum inhibition percentage of 79.08%. The IC₅₀ value of the extract was estimated at 46.65 mg/mL, whereas ascorbic acid used as a reference standard exhibited an IC₅₀ value of 6.41 mg/mL, indicating a stronger antioxidant activity. These findings demonstrate the presence of bioactive compounds with antioxidant potential in Brassica rapa L. Therefore, this plant may represent a promising natural source of antioxidants with potential applications in food, nutraceutical and pharmaceutical fields.
