CONTRIBUTION À L’ÉTUDE DE LA CONTAMINATION DES EAUX DE OUED CHELIFF ET OUED EL MACTAA ET L’EAU DE MER

Abstract

The Oued Chéliff and oued el mactaa flow directlyinto the sea, accumulatingpollutantsfromindustrial, agricultural and urbanactivities in nine states of Algeria over the decades for Oued Chèliff. Unfortunately, the lack of sewagetreatment plants has contributed to the currentseawater pollution. The real challenge is to determine to whatextentthesepollutants affect seawaterquality and aquatic life. It isimperative to take prompt and rational action to reduce pollution. As part of ourstudy, weassessed the quality of seawaternear Oued Chéliff and comparedit to that of anotherwadi, Oued El Mactaa. Wecarried out physical and chemicalanalyzes at three points of each station, including the mouth of the wadi and the sea, in order to confirmany changes in the properties of the water. We have alsoassessed water pollution, itsorigins and causes, providing solutions to reduceit.After an appropriatesamplingstrategy, weperformedphysical and chemical analyses, such as pH, selectiveconductivity, temperature and turbidity, in the laboratory. The resultsshowed the presence of a group of pollutantsthatthreaten the aquatic life of the sea. The wastefrom the valleypollutes the seawater and has similarconsequences to those of Oued El Mactaa. Wecompared the degree of pollution between the twowadis and proposedresults and solutions to reducethisphenomenonReducing pollution is a priority to preserveaquatic life and seawaterquality
