Type 2 diabetes is a complex disease whose prevalence is constantly increasing due to lifestyle changes and an aging population. The aim of this practical study is to monitor the evolution of some anthropometric and biochemical parameters before and after therapeutic change in type 2 diabetics aged 40 to 80 years, and undergo monotherapy (with sulfamide and metformin) and dual therapy combining sulfamide and metformin, according to gender. BMI remains stable before and after therapeutic change in both sexes. The change in therapy significantly decreased blood glucose levels in diabetic patients, as well as HbA1c levels in both sexes and under different therapeutic classes. Concerning plasma levels of triglycerides, cholesterol and LDL, the results did not vary significantly (p'0.05) according to sex and drug change. Moreover, the therapeutic change does not seem to affect good cholesterol, including the values recorded in patients before and after the new therapy. Finally, for protein parameters, plasma levels of urea and creatinine decrease significantly after therapeutic changes and in both sexes.en_US
