The pollution of the soil ecosystem has become today one of the concerns of the major ecological problems. Cadmium is considered as a dangerous heavy metal and an environmental pollutant. This work aims to evaluate the accumulation of cadmium (Cd) in the organs of young soybean seedlings (Glycine max L.). An evaluation of the morphometrics parameters has been carried out. Seedlings previously cultivated on a soil medium, after 60 days of sowing, subjected to Cd stress under treatment of 50, 150, and 300 ppm for 10 days. The accumulation of Cd in different parts of the plants has been analyzed using the atomic absorption spectrometer. The results obtained show that cadmium accumulation is higher in the roots than in the leaves of soybeans, and that stress induces a significant effect on root length and biomass, and a reduction in the chlorophyll content. A significant increase in the concentration of Cd in all plant organs obtained in the following order roots > leaves > stems.en_US
