Abstract

In order to contribute and evaluate the reproductive performance of local hens populations, field surveys have been conducted on 50 local hens during breeding in the Mostaganem region grouped into 5 agro-ecological communes (Hadjdj, Khadra, Achacha, Sidi-Ali and Sidi Lakhder): coastline, interior plains and highlands According to these surveys, women are the main responsible for poultry farms. They use the modest income of this type of operation to meet certain expenses of their homes and children. Hens are high under poor conditions and therefore their productivity is relatively low. In view of these results, it appears that the local chicken is a promising local breed for this spawning performance; on the basis of the data obtained, it could be envisaged to improve the conditions of breeding, such as food and hygiene conditions; And to develop a selection program to further improve its productive potential
