The United States of America is a nation founded by immigrants more than three centuries ago. Immigration has always been a marker of belonging to America. Throughout American history, historians distinguished between three big immigrant streams. The third immigrant stream, which is underway, is thought to have had an immense impact on the American social and political unity in the future. Scholars believe that the influx of immigrants mainly of Hispanic origin, legally and illegally, will undermine the established American identity, challenge English as the dominant language, and be a hard opponent to the historic Protestantism. They go far to predict the division of the United States and the creation of another nation inside the American nation. The future seems to hold many answers to issues that have always been revived since the foundation of the United States.en_US
