Abstract
Abstract
This study aims to examine the contribution of school sports to the process of identifying and guiding talented students towards sports clubs. The research problem arose from the observation of a lack of scientific mechanisms within schools and weak coordination with sports institutions, raising questions about the effectiveness of school sports as a framework for talent discovery and development.
The descriptive-analytical method was adopted, using a structured questionnaire as the main data collection tool. The sample consisted of 22 physical education teachers. The questionnaire covered several dimensions, including the process of selection, methods of talent detection, the role of school competitions, and the extent to which teachers rely on scientific tests and modern tools in sports guidance.
The collected data were processed statistically using SPSS software, through frequency analysis, percentage extraction, and the Chi-square test (χ²) for statistical significance. Cronbach’s Alpha coefficient was also calculated to ensure the reliability and internal consistency of the instrument.
The findings revealed that school sports contribute partially to talent identification, mainly through competitions. However, the process remains largely traditional, relying on observation and personal judgment rather than on clear scientific standards or modern tools. The results also highlighted the lack of cooperation between schools and sports clubs, which limits the effectiveness of guiding talents towards competitive sports.
